Link building and digital PR: earned links, not bought ones

For businesses that have something worth citing but few sites pointing to them, we help earn links from sites that have a real reason to mention you: original data, useful tools, expert commentary, genuine partners and listings that fit your business. We don't buy links, swap them in networks or place them on sites made for that purpose, because Google's spam policies treat link schemes as spam and we follow them. As developers, we also build the tool or data page ourselves, so the asset and the outreach are one project.

Links are easy to buy and risky to keep

Plenty of sellers offer a number of links for a monthly fee. Links placed to influence rankings, whether bought, exchanged at scale or created through networks, fall under Google's link spam policies. At best they do nothing, and at worst they cost you the visibility you were paying for.

Earning links is slower and less predictable. It starts with something other sites want to reference, goes on with a careful pitch to the right people, and is judged on whether the linking sites are relevant to you, not on a count. We can't promise how many links a campaign will earn, and we say so up front.

What we deliver

  • Link-worthy assets

Original data from your own business, free tools and calculators, and guides with something new in them: things a writer would cite because they can't get them elsewhere.

  • Expert commentary

Short, accurate comments from your people for journalists, bloggers and newsletters writing on topics you know well.

  • Relevant partnerships and listings

Directories, associations, suppliers and partners that genuinely relate to your business, claimed and filled out properly.

  • Reclamation and reporting

Broken inbound links redirected, unlinked mentions turned into links by a polite request, and reports on which referring domains are relevant.

Assets worth linking to

A useful tool gives other sites a specific reason to point to you. Teknoesis builds web tools, and our Rice Purity Test app is one example: a single-purpose tool built for speed and privacy. For your business, the equivalent might be a calculator, a checklist, a dataset from your own records, or a clear explainer. We agree the idea with you, build it on your site, and only then pitch it.

How we built the Rice Purity Test app

Outreach and expert commentary

We research the writers and sites that cover your topic, check that their audience matches yours, and write individual pitches, never mass mailings. Where your team has real expertise, we prepare comments you review and approve. We don't invent quotes, fake experts or press releases about things that didn't happen.

Reclamation and clean-up

We find pages that link to URLs on your site that no longer exist and redirect them to the right replacement, and find places that mention your brand without a link and ask for one. These are low-risk work because the mention already exists.

How we build it

Every link building and digital PR project runs through our delivery process. These are the steps that are specific to this work. Teal steps are thinking, graphite steps are building, and orange ones keep it running.

  1. Link profile review

Who links to you now, which pages earn links, and which links are broken or lost.

  2. Choose assets and angles

What you can publish that others would want to cite, and who would cover it.

  3. Build the asset

A data page, tool or guide published on your site with a stable URL.

  4. Targeted outreach

Individual pitches to relevant sites, tracked in a shared sheet you can read.

  5. Reclaim what already exists

Redirect broken inbound links and request links for unlinked mentions.

  6. Report on quality

New referring domains, their relevance and the pages they point to, alongside Search Console data.

What you get

  • A review of your current links, lost links and broken inbound links
  • A short list of asset and angle ideas, with the reason for each
  • One built asset (data page, tool or guide) on your site
  • A shared outreach log showing who was contacted and what they said
  • Redirects for broken inbound links, and requests for unlinked mentions
  • A report on referring domains by relevance, with no promised counts

Questions about link building and digital PR

Do you guarantee a number of links?

No. Whether anyone links to a page is decided by other people, so a guaranteed count usually means paid or networked links. We report which pages earned links and from which sites, and we judge them by relevance: a link from a site your buyers read, pointing to a page that deserves the attention, counts for more than a pile of unrelated ones.

Do you buy links or use guest-post networks?

No. We don't buy links, trade them in exchange schemes, or use private blog networks. Google's spam policies treat these as link spam, and we follow them. A guest article is fine when it is real, useful and written for the site's audience, not placed to pass ranking signals.

What is digital PR?

It's earning coverage and links from publishers, bloggers and newsletters by giving them something worth referencing: data, research, a tool or expert comment. The link is a by-product of being useful to their readers.

How long does it take?

Building an asset takes weeks and outreach takes months, and some campaigns earn few links. We judge the work after a few months and suggest changing the angle or stopping if it isn't working, instead of billing indefinitely.

What do you need from us, and what affects the cost?

Access to your site so we can publish the asset, someone who can supply or check the facts and data, and sign-off on every pitch and comment sent in your name. Cost follows the size of the asset we build, how many relevant sites we pitch, and how long the outreach runs, and we confirm scope after the link profile review.

Can you fix a bad link profile from a previous agency?

We can review it and tell you what looks risky, and Google's disavow tool exists for the rare case of a real link-spam problem. Most sites don't need it, and we'll say so if yours doesn't, instead of selling clean-up work you don't need.
